The No. 18 Arizona women's gymnastics team looks to keep their perfect home record intact as they host No. 16 Oregon State at 7:30 p.m. Friday in McKale Center.
This will be the Gymcats' final Pacific 10 Conference home meet of the season.
"Athletes enjoy performing at home for people who appreciate it, the home crowd," said Gymcats head coach Bill Ryden. "It gives them some extra motivation, which results in better performances."
Last week the Gymcats were once again led by the outstanding performances of seniors Katie Johnson, Monica Bisordi, Jamie Schell and Stevie Fanning, as well as career-bests by sophomores Aubrey Taylor (9.875 on bars) and Jamie Holton (9.775 on floor).
Bisordi and Schell finished first and second, respectively, in the all-around competition.
"We continue to get better as a team each week," said Taylor. "Everyone is excited about tonight's meet."
Arizona has some extra motivation tonight, as the Beavers have won the last four games in the teams' series.
Still, OSU has not beaten Arizona in Tucson in a regular season meet since 1980.
The Beavers, like the Gymcats, enter competition this week after setting a new season high in points. Last week, Oregon State tallied a 195.975 at Seattle Pacific.
"Tonight will be our toughest test to date at home," Ryden said. "I'm more impressed with the fact that we are improving as a team. That is most important."
Currently the Gymcats have a season average of 194.271 points per meet, with a Regional Qualifying Score of 194.080, 18th in the nation.
Once again, they enter the week ranked nationally in all four individual events. The Gymcats are No. 18 on the floor exercise, No. 21 on the balance beam, No. 16 on the uneven parallel bars and No. 24 on the vault.
Next week, the Gymcats are back on the road as they travel to Los Angeles to take on UCLA and Georgia at Pauley Pavilion.
