As Alicia Hollowell continues to break Arizona softball records, the hardware keeps piling up.

The junior pitcher was named Pacific 10 Conference Pitcher of the Week for the week of Feb. 22-Tuesday, the league office announced yesterday.

Hollowell, who earned her second selection of the season and the 92nd all-time for the No. 1 Arizona softball team, tossed two no-hitters in the Compass Bank Invitational this weekend in Waco, Texas.

She struck out 46 batters in 21 innings over three starts, surpassing Jennie Finch's school record for career punchouts (1,028) Sunday in a 1-0 win over Baylor.

Hollowell (8-0), who fanned 15 Bears, has 1,029 strikeouts since 2002.

"She threw some crucial pitches at crucial times, and that's what we need out of her. Nothing more, nothing different," said Arizona head coach Mike Candrea. "I think she knows pretty much what her role is."

Hollowell's no-hitter Saturday against Louisiana Tech was the ninth of her career, breaking the Arizona mark shared by Arizona assistant coach Nancy Evans (1994-1998) and Susie Parra (1991-1994). Hollowell has four no-hitters in eight starts this season.

"Anytime the team does well and gets some wins, it's very important," Hollowell said. "If they weren't out there with me, scoring the runs and playing some defense behind me, they're the ones who make me look good."

Hollowell carries a .34 ERA in 11 appearances this year, tied for the team lead with freshman Taryne Mowatt.

Opposing hitters have batted .075 against her.

Arizona (13-0) plays a two-game series with Eastern Michigan Friday and Saturday at Hillenbrand Stadium.
