Men's golf takes topthree spots in Tempe

The Arizona men's golf team took fourth place at the ASU Thunderbird Invitational in Tempe yesterday, as Wildcats finished in the top three individual spots.

Senior Kipp Riehle (7-under 206) finished with a 3-under 68 to beat senior Nathan Lashley by six strokes in the tournament.

Sophomore Henry Liaw ended with a 1-over 72 to finish in a three-way tie for third place with Kansas State's Matt VanCleve and Oregon's Gregg LaVoie.

None of the other six Arizona golfers took higher than 41st place for the Wildcats, who fell 12 strokes short of champion UNLV (7-over 859).

Sophomore Josh Esler ended in a tie for 47th place with senior Nick Juszczak. Each scored a 12-over 225.

Freshman Travis Esway and sophomore Nathan Tyler rounded out the Wildcats by tying for 51st place (13-over 226).

Host team ASU took third place with a 17-over 869.

Arizona is back in action April 15-16 in Palo Alto, Calif., for the U.S. Collegiate Championships.
