The No. 7 Arizona men's club lacrosse team returned home last night tired but wearing optimistic grins, as the Laxcats followed a 10-6 loss to No. 4 UC Santa Barbara with a 8-5 victory over No. 19 Cal Poly San Luis Obispo.

Attackmen Greg Polheber and Adam Paris each scored two goals in Arizona's five-goal fourth quarter against the Mustangs.

The Laxcats (7-4, 2-1 WCLL) came out to a slow start, giving up four goals in the first quarter.

"The offense and defense was consistent all weekend on both ends of the field, but we're glad to take the roadtrip 1-1," said Arizona senior goaltender Charlie Salemi.

Senior attackman Dave Sherman led Arizona with three late goals against UCSB, the final one netted on a behind-the-back shot.

That wasn't enough for the Laxcats to knock off the Gauchos, who were led by three goals each from senior midfielder Will Patton and junior attackman Nick Stratton.

Arizona meets ASU Saturday at 7 p.m. at Murphy Stadium in the Laxcats' final regular-season game.
