Police responded April 12 to a report of a dried blood stain on 540 N. Vine Ave., reports stated.

Police found several drops of blood next to the large stain, reports stated.

Someone wrote the words "Jihad lives" with blood near the blood spill, reports stated.

Police contacted custodial services to clean up the mess, reports stated.

Police do not know who the blood came from.


An employee found five syringes in the Main Library, 1510 N. Highland Ave., reports stated.

The employee contacted police April 12 to report the property he found on the fourth floor, reports stated.

Police have no suspects or witnesses.


Police arrested a man who was attempting to steal a bike outside La Paz Residence Hall, 602 N. Highland Ave., reports stated.

A resident assistant contacted police April 12 because she saw the man acting suspiciously, reports stated.

Police confronted the man and saw large bulges in two of his pockets, reports stated.

Police found bolt cutters and a cut bike lock but the man said neither of the items were his, reports stated.

Police read the man his Miranda rights and the man said, "I'll be honest with you," and said the bolt cutters were his but the lock was not, reports stated.

He said he found the lock already cut off a nearby bike but the bike had a flat tire, reports stated.

The man changed his mind and said the lock belonged to him but the bolt cutters did not, reports stated.

Police asked the man if he knew about a bike theft that happened earlier that day and the man said no but suspected it could have been a man named "Negro" who lives at the 76 gas station on West St. Mary's Road, reports stated.

The man then looked at the combination lock and said, "I cut it," and, "I wanted a ride home," reports stated.

Police asked the man if he planned to sell the bike and he said yes, reports stated.

Police asked how much he would sell it for and the man said, "Whatever they'll sell," reports stated.

The man said the bolt cutters were his but the lock was already cut, reports stated.

The man was taken to Pima County Jail.


A woman was arrested April 12 for possession of prescription drugs that did not belong to her on 1415 N. Sixth Ave., reports stated.

Police were patrolling the area when they saw a woman sitting outside of the building near some bushes, reports stated.

The woman told police she was on UA property because she was resting, reports stated.

Police asked the woman if she had contraband and she said no but pulled out several loose pills from her pocket, reports stated.

Police called Poison Control and the pills are only sold with a doctor's prescription, reports stated.

The woman did not have a prescription or the bottle the pills came in, reports stated.

The woman was cited and released on the scene.


A man's laptop computer was stolen from the Main Library, 1510 E. University Blvd., reports stated.

The man was studying in the library April 12 around 10:13 p.m. and noticed a suspicious man acting like he was looking for a book, reports stated.

The man said about 10 minutes later he had to run home and returned a few minutes later, reports stated.

His computer that he left at the study station was gone, reports stated.

The man was unsure if the suspicious man could have taken the computer, reports stated.

Police found no evidence on the scene and the man said he would contact them with the laptop's serial number, reports stated.

Police have no other suspects or witnesses.


Police arrested a man for possession of drugs on East Ninth Street and North Campbell Avenue after his car made an abrupt turn and ran a stop sign, reports stated.

The man told police April 12 that he was driving his friend's car and did not have a driver's license with him, reports stated.

Police asked the man if he had anything illegal in the car, and the man said, "No, you can look," reports stated.

Police found three smoking pipes with a white, powdery substance and a large copper scouring pad, reports stated.

The man said the pipes were not his, reports stated.

The man was cited for drug paraphernalia and not having a valid driver's license and was released at the scene.
