  • FREE - Edward Goyette:

    "Expressions" Opening Reception. Local visual artist Edward Goyette will be presenting a variety of new paintings and photographs in a solo show. 7 p.m. – 10 p.m. Bumsteds, 500 N. Fourth Ave. Goyette's work includes a range of paintings in several mediums, black and white photographs from recent trips to New York City, and a black and white photographic exploration of Fourth Avenue. The show is scheduled to run until the end of July.

  • "Forged by Fire: The Devastation and Renewal of a Mountain Community," by Tucson author Mary Ellen Barnes. 2 p.m. Reader's Oasis, 3400 E. Speedway Blvd. It's been two years since the devastating Aspen fire ravaged the face of the Santa Catalina Mountains and levels the small community of Summerhaven. Reader's Oasis observes the second anniversary of this pivotal moment in local history.

  • "Prospecting for Clovis: Bones, Stones and Cellular Phones in the San Pedro Basin," by Jesse Balenger, UA doctoral candidate. 7:30 p.m. – 9 p.m. The San Pedro River Valley of southeastern Arizona provides an unparalleled record of late Pleistocene archaeology and paleoecology. Much of this record was uncovered during a remarkably brief interval of discovers that subsided in the 1970s. Now, 30 years later, a systematic search of late Pleistocene exposures is again under way.
