Someone damaged a Kobelco excavator at a construction site at East Seventh Street and North Cherry Avenue sometime over the weekend, reports stated.

An employee reported to police that when he left the site on Friday the excavator was intact. However, when he returned Monday morning at 7:30 a.m., the machine was damaged and would not start, reports stated.

The computer and light cables were cut, the clutch was bent, one of the front operating handles was bent, more cables were cut and the handle was broken off. The cover of the toolbox was also pulled off and thrown out of the excavator, reports stated.

The employee told police he also found the hood open and the rod used to hold the hood open was broken off, reports stated.

The value of the damage is unknown and the employee told police a mechanic was on the way to look for damage to the engine, reports stated.

Police advised the employee to contact the University of Arizona Police Department if there was any further damage found, reports stated.


A man was arrested for possession of drug paraphernalia after he was riding his bike the wrong way down East Second Street near North Martin Avenue Monday afternoon, reports stated.

Police told the man he needed to obey all traffic laws even when riding a bicycle, reports stated.

The officer then asked the man if he had any weapons or drugs on him. The man paused for a few seconds before saying "no" in a soft voice, reports stated.

The officer continued to look at the man without saying anything, and then the man said he did have a marijuana pipe in his back pocket, reports stated.

The man said he'd gotten the silver pipe from a friend, reports stated.

Police cited and released the man for possession of drug paraphernalia and driving on the wrong side of the road, reports stated.


A student's $60 bike was stolen Monday afternoon from the Economics building, 1110 E. North Campus Drive, reports stated.

The owner of the bike told police that her friend locked the bike on the west side of the building at 4 p.m. and when she returned 15 minutes later, it was gone, reports stated.

The student told police her bike was not registered with Parking and Transportation Services and said she would call police if she had any more information, reports stated.


An employee found dried eggs on the top of his vehicle on Saturday while it was parked near the east wall of a Zone 1 lot, 1852 E. First St., reports stated.

The eggs had damaged the paint on the roof his car, reports stated.

There was no other damage done to the vehicle but the employee estimated the damage from the eggs to be more than $500, reports stated.

Police have no suspects or witnesses and the report was made for documentation purposes only.


Someone damaged a parking pole in Drachman Circle at North Cherry Avenue and East Drachman Road sometime Thursday or Friday, reports stated.

An employee told police he left the construction area at 6 p.m. Friday, and when he returned Saturday at 6 a.m., he noticed the pole looked like it had been struck by a vehicle, reports stated.

Police noticed several small pieces of white plastic near the pole, which appeared to be part of a vehicle's bumper, reports stated.

The damage was estimated at about $500 and police have no suspects, witnesses or further evidence, reports stated.


An employee reported on Thursday that he had been receiving harassing phone calls from a 7- to 10-year-old child for the past week, reports stated.

The employee had the number traced by the Center for Computing and Information Technology and the number was traced to a woman's house, reports stated.

The employee told police he did not wish to press charges, he just wanted the calls to stop, reports stated.

The woman told police her 7-year-old daughter may have been making the prank calls, reports stated.

She said her daughter had been around while she was on the phone with the bank and had seen her upset afterwards, reports stated.

The woman said she thought her daughter was trying to get back at the bank by calling and had dialed the wrong number, reports stated.

The woman told police she would talk to her daughter, reports stated.


An employee's kayak was stolen from a gated area at Skyview Apartments, 1050 E. Fifth St., sometime Thursday night, reports stated.

The kayak was locked in the gated area, but the fence had been cut from the top to the bottom in the northeast corner, and the gate on the fence was still locked, reports stated.

The employee told police Residence Life had recently installed cameras on top of the building, but he was unsure if they were operational, reports stated.

The employee said he would follow up with Residence Life.

Police have no suspects or witnesses.
