Senate gives more than $600 for 'A' Mountain

The Associated Students of the University of Arizona Senate granted funds to the Blue Key Honorary group at last night's meeting to aid in funding A-Day, the annual painting day of the "A" on Sentinel Peak, otherwise known as "A" Mountain.

The $655.47 given to Blue Key covers the funding for two buses and advertisement fliers from Fast Copy. The motion to give the funding was passed with a 7-3 vote. Blue Key had originally requested $1,393.64 for the event.

A-Day is scheduled to take place Sept. 17 and is open to any freshman who wishes to help paint the "A." The annual event in one of the UA's older traditions, extending back to 1915, said club member Mathew Gugliuzza, a business senior.

ASUA revenues top $1 million

The senate also unanimously approved a budget of more than $1 million last night.

The 2005-2006 budgeted revenue totals $1,041,613, according to documents provided by ASUA Treasurer Keven Barker, a business senior.

Almost half of the revenue came from the UofA Bookstore profits.

Another $220,208 from the revenue came from student fees.
