Two 17-year-old boys were cited for underage drinking after police saw them set their drinks next to a parked car near the Kappa Sigma fraternity house, 1449 N. Cherry Ave., at 12:25 a.m. Saturday, reports stated.
Police saw the two boys set down their drinks and walk away from his vehicle while he was driving toward them, reports stated.
The officer followed the boys and drove next to the curb. He called to the boys, who did not respond, reports stated.
The officer had to park his car and physically touch the boys on the shoulders to get their attention, reports stated.
The officer and boys returned to the area where they left the drinks. One was drinking a 22-ounce can of Mickey’s that was cold and almost full, and the other was drinking a 40-ounce bottle of King Cobra mixed with orange juice, reports stated.
Both men emptied their drinks at the scene and were cited, reports stated.
Someone arrived to sign the boys’ referrals and took custody of them, reports stated.
While they were waiting for the person who picked them up, one of the boys called his parents and told them what had happened and that he would be straight home when the person arrived, reports stated.
Three students were arrested for underage drinking and one was arrested for having a fake ID after they ran a stop sign at North Highland Avenue and East First Street just after 1 a.m. Saturday, reports stated.
When police pulled the car over, he could smell alcohol on the driver’s breath and asked for her driver’s license, reports stated.
When she removed her ID from her wallet, the officer could see another driver’s license in plain sight behind her real license, reports stated.
The fake ID had the student’s real name but her last name was spelled differently. The birth date was the same as her real license, only showing she was born three years earlier, reports stated.
After police ran the license number through their computer, it showed the number belongs to a woman with a Phoenix address who was born in 1963, reports stated.
The other two students in the vehicle also had alcohol on their breath and had red, watery eyes, reports stated.
The driver said she’d only had a couple of drinks and another student said the same. The third student openly admitted to having seven beers. All three said the drinking had occurred at the Kappa Sigma fraternity, reports stated.
The students were cited and released, and the vehicle was parked and locked in the Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Student Center, 1322 E. First St., reports stated.
The fake ID was placed into property and evidence, reports stated.
A man was transported to University Medical Center at 6:45 a.m. Saturday after he rode his bike into a gate pole on the UA Mall across from the Manuel T. Pacheco Integrated Learning Center, 1500 E. University Blvd., reports stated.
The man rode his bike into the steel pole on the north side of the Mall. The pole was blue with reflective tape, reports stated.
The man lost control of his bike when he hit the pole and hit his head. He had a 1-inch cut on his face near his right eye, reports stated.
Tucson Fire Department responded and transported the man to UMC for continued treatment, reports stated.
The man’s bike and his girlfriend’s bike were taken to University of Arizona Police Department headquarters for safekeeping, reports stated.
A student’s car was egged while it was parked in the west side of the parking lot at Skyview Apartments, 1050 E. Eighth St., sometime Saturday morning, reports stated.
The student told police he had arrived home at 2 that morning and when he returned to his vehicle at noon he noticed someone had thrown an egg at the driver’s side door of his black 2002 BMW, reports stated.
He said when he tried to clean the egg off his car some of the clear paint coat came off, reports stated.
Police have no suspects or witnesses.
