Nick Luca - 9:30 p.m. Plush. 340 E. Sixth St. After doing production work for Calexico, Nick Luca has finally put his aartistic talent to the test with a solo career. Expect to hear atmospheric dreamscapes of sound with jazz, psychedelic pop and a little folk mixed in. No Cover. (21+)

The Tucson Gem Show - Roadway Inn. Grant Road at Interstate 10. Holiday Inn. South Palo Verde Boulevard. Check out this yearly Tucson gem. Get it? Gem? But be careful and stay away from those tacky new age crystals and animal charms that your second-grade music teacher used to wear. Karen Presten Bova - Borders. 5870 E. Broadway Blvd. This author makes the case for guest worker programs and more leniency toward Mexican immigrants in her new book "Illegals: Who Needs Them." 7 p.m. Free

The Modey Lemon - Plush. 340 E. Sixth St. These punkers from Pittsburgh will remind you of New York hipsters like the Yeah Yeah Yeahs and The Kills. Plus, they're the only group out there besides Radiohead that play the moog. With The Sweat Band. 9:30 p.m. $4. (21+)

Dharam Docks: Doing Time, Doing Vispassana - The Loft Cinema. 3233 E. Speedway Blvd. Interesting film about a prison inspector general in New Delhi, India, who tries to transform a prison into an oasis of peace by using meditation. Now if only that would work at football games. 5 p.m. $5

'Paying Dues' - YWCA 738 N. Fifth Ave. Local DJ organizes Tucson's first break dancing competition, drawing groups from all over the country. Head down to the historic Y for a real life "Breakin'" and "You Got Served" experience. Doors open at 7:30 p.m. $10 and $20 with a camcorder

Psychic Fair - Stairway of Light Church. 337 E. Grant Road. If you forgot to have your palm read last time you went to the Renaissance Festival, you have another chance. (Gasp!) This fair will feature astrologers, spiritual healers, tarot card readers and more. 9 a.m to 4 p.m. Suggested $15 donation

Breast Cancer Awareness and Prevention Lecture - Sierra Fitness. 5455 N. Kolb Road. This subject may seem like old hat (or bra), but the proceeds will go to a Sierra Fitness employee battling breast cancer. 3 p.m to 4 p.m. $15

The Posies - Plush. 340 E. Sixth St. No, it's not the Pixies. But it is smart, catchy and interesting indie rock as well. And screw the moog - The Posies have actually played with Radiohead. Deathray Davies opens. 9:30 p.m. $10. (21+)

The Media and Women's Health: Sorting Fact From Fiction - University Medical Center. DuVal Auditorium. 1501 N. Campbell Ave. Spearhead of the women's health movement in the '70s and acclaimed author Judy Norsigian speaks about what she knows best. Don't go if you're expecting a catered lunch from Jack in the Box though. Noon to 1 p.m. Free

Kristin and Michael Dauphinais - Crowder Hall. A mezzo-soprano, this UA professor will showcase her voice with a piano accompaniment. 2 p.m. Free

NAFTA's Effect on Arizona-Sonora - Café Ramey. 1661 N. Swan Road. Director of regional development at the UA will hold a breakfast meeting about trade agreements and all that jazz. Perfect time to hit up that fair trade coffee. 7:30 a.m. to 9 a.m. Menu items range from $5 to $10

European Cheeses and Seafood - Kingfisher Bar and Grill. 2564 E. Grant Road. The Southern Arizona Chefs Association will give a demonstration on how to prepare these classy and romantic delicacies. 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. Free

Tuesday

Tombstones - Club Congress. 311 E. Congress St. With a name like Tombstones, one would assume a shitty performance by Kurt Russell or a shitty frozen pizza. But you know what they say about assuming. Head downtown to see if you in fact have made an ass of you and me when listening to this Austin, Texas, rock-a-billy band. 9 p.m. $4. (21+)

Native Eyes 2005 - The Loft Cinema. 3233 E. Speedway Blvd. Directors, producers and screenwriters get together to view and discuss films about American Indians. 10 a.m. $8. Discounts available

Sharon Jones and the Dap Kings - Solar Culture. 31 E. Toole Ave. Led by a black soul singer from the South, this outfit covers all the classics: jazz, soul, funk, gospel and big band. Not to mention, they're the kings of dap, whatever that may be. 8 p.m. $10
