A student was warned Thursday for trespassing and disorderly conduct after he cursed at an employee at the Student Recreation Center, 1400 E. Sixth St., reports stated.
The employee said the student entered the facility and did not have his CatCard. The employee told him he would have to pay $5 to enter the facility without his CatCard, reports stated.
The student began filling out the payment form and said, "I don't want to have to deal with this shit," reports stated.
He allegedly told the employee "Fuck you" and said, "You're a bunch of jokers," reports stated.
The employee told him he was no longer allowed to work out there and the student left, reports stated.
The employee asked police to contact the student to warn him for his disorderly conduct and let him know his membership privileges had been suspended indefinitely. If he returns, he will be arrested for criminal trespassing, reports stated.
Police contacted the student to discuss the situation with him. The student told police he had either lost or left his CatCard at home, which was about 20 minutes away, reports stated.
The student said he had agreed to pay the $5 and said he was going through a stressful family situation and wanted to work out, reports stated.
The student admitted to using profanity once but added that he apologized to the staff several times, reports stated.
The student said he was unsure if he would contest the suspension, but agreed he would not enter the Rec Center without making an appointment, reports stated.
Police recommended the student's CatCard be flagged at the Rec Center, reports stated.
A man was arrested Thursday for shoplifting and possession of marijuana at the UofA Bookstore, 1209 E. University Blvd., reports stated.
Security at the bookstore called police and said a man was putting items in a bag, and he was the same person who stole merchandise Sept. 20, reports stated.
The man left the store and police contacted him in the breezeway. The man had a bag, CD player and headphones visible to police when they made contact with him, reports stated.
Police took the man into the security office in the store and asked if he paid for the items he was holding and the items in the bag. The man said no, reports stated.
The security officers said they had a tape of him stealing two CD players, a carrying bag and strap. Security was unable to catch him and positively identified him as the man who shoplifted on Sept. 20, reports stated.
The man said he didn't steal the items that day, and he sold the CD players to a friend for $10 each, reports stated.
The brown bag he was carrying and allegedly placing items in was the bag he stole Sept. 20, reports stated.
Police found three portable CD/MP3 players, two sets of headphones, a Walkman, taillight, five four-packs of batteries and a water bottle in the man's possession, reports stated.
The man had $53.43 in his front pants pocket, and he told police even though he had money on him he had no intention of paying for the items he stole and said he had a heroin problem, reports stated.
Police could smell a strong odor of marijuana coming from his bag and asked him if he had any marijuana on him. The man answered yes, reports stated.
Police searched his bag and found a bag containing 3.8 grams of a green leafy substance suspected to be marijuana. The man also had two unused syringes in the bag which the man said he "uses to shoot up," reports stated.
The man was arrested for shoplifting $150 worth of merchandise Sept. 20, criminal shoplifting for $413 and possession of marijuana. He also confirmed a Pima County Sheriff's Department warrant for fraud because he issued a bad check, reports stated.
The stolen items were photographed and returned to the bookstore, reports stated.
The man was transported to Pima County Jail and booked.
A student found a silver and black Gateway notebook computer on the fourth floor of the Modern Languages building, 1423 E. University Blvd., Thursday at 2:45 p.m., reports stated.
The owner reported to University of Arizona Police Department headquarters to retrieve the computer shortly after it was turned in, reports stated.
The student looked at the computer and said nothing appeared to be missing, reports stated.
