Hepatitis exposure possible from Las Vegas Gaming Expo
Anyone who attended the Global Gaming Expo at the Las Vegas Convention Center from Sept. 13 to 14 should be checked for Hepatitis A. Officials believe an infected person who worked at a food service booth during the conference was handing out ice cream and is believed to have unintentionally infected crowd members.
The Arizona Department of Health Services is seeking to notify an estimated 739 Arizona residents who may have come into contact with this individual. Symptoms of exposure to the infection may include fever, fatigue, loss of appetite, nausea or abdominal discomfort, which may be followed within a few days by jaundice.
Hepatitis A can take from 15 to 50 days to develop. For more information or testing options, contact the Pima County Health Department, 150 W. Congress St. Suite 334, at (520) 740-8315.
