Question: What do you think about the ban on assault weapons being lifted?
"It's kind of scary. I really hope the government does something to reinstate the ban. Just the thought of people walking around with machine guns is kind of frightening."
"Tom DeLay and George Bush, basically, one says, 'If the other guys ask me to do it, I'll do it.' But they both know they're not going to ask each other. And it just seems like the gun law gets more attention than law enforcement, who is asking to keep the ban in place."
"I hadn't really thought about it a lot. I heard it on the news and thought, 'I doubt they'll let that stick. That would be insane' ... I mean, it's a really bad idea."
"Basically I feel that the ban being lifted is good for our constitutional rights as far as the Second Amendment goes. People that are concerned with the weapons ban being lifted - they feel that there is going to be more shootings or whatever - and it's just not true.
"I think it's absolutely ridiculous. I think it's the most ridiculous thing. I think that kind of sums up my opinions of it."
"I think the ban being lifted is going to affect a very small number of people because most law-abiding citizens have very little use for assault weapons. And criminals who are interested in assault weapons probably already have them, so the ban has little effect except to limit recreational use of assault weapons by law-abiding citizens."
