The No. 22 Arizona men's golf team finished in a tie for seventh place at the second annual Big Ten/Pacific 10 Conference Challenge in Glenview, Ill., yesterday.

The Wildcats posted a 4-over-par 292 in the final round to match Michigan State, which improved eight strokes yesterday from their second-round score of 298.

Sophomore Trey Denton shot a 1-over 73 yesterday, matching his first-round total and finishing in a tie for ninth place in the individual standings with Purdue's Pariya Junhasavasdikul.

Host Northwestern (4-under 860) took the team title, as the Big Ten Conference evened the challenge standings at 1-1. ASU, which finished third yesterday, won the event last season.

Sophomore Travis Esway tied for 28th with a 5-over 221 over three rounds.

Junior Henry Liaw finished tied for 42nd at 8-over par for the tournament.

Arizona hits the course again Oct. 10-11 in Birmingham, Ala., at the Jerry Pate National Intercollegiate.
