Wilson leads Cats in Seattle

The No. 23 Arizona women's golf team dropped a spot in the team standings yesterday in the Edean Ihlanfeldt Invitational in Seattle.

The Wildcats shot 26-over-par yesterday at the Sahalee Country Club to fall into a tie with Southern California in fifth place.

Freshman Lauren Espinosa followed her first-round 74 with a 6-over-par 78 to drop five spots into a tie for 13th place with freshman Amanda Wilson. Wilson shot a 3-over 75 to lead all Wildcats yesterday.

Arizona trails rival ASU, which at 19-over-par holds the second-round lead over second-place Pepperdine, by 21 strokes.

The Wildcats begin the final round this morning at 8.

Men's golf stands in 10th place on final day

The No. 22 Arizona men's golf team remained in 10th place yesterday to finish the Jerry Pate National Intercollegiate in Birmingham, Ala.

The Wildcats posted a 2-under 282 in the final round to finish at 8-over 860, the lowest respective scores for the team this season. Arizona finished 32 strokes behind winner Georgia Tech at the Old Overton Club.

Junior Henry Liaw carded a 2-under 69 yesterday, the Wildcats' best individual score of the tournament, to tie him for 22nd place. He finished with an even-par 213.

Sophomore Trey Denton scored a 1-over 72 after consecutive even-par finishes to tie for 27th place.

Freshman Nicholas Park finished the tournament tied for 42nd place with a 5-over 218.

Fellow freshman Ben Fox tied for 47th place with a 7-over 220.

Arizona next competes at the CordeValle Invitational in San Martin, Calif., Oct. 31-Nov. 1.
