UA law grads surpass state bar pass rate

Graduates from the James E. Rogers College of law exceeded the Arizona State Bar pass rate with a double-digit margin.

The Committee on Examinations of the Supreme Court of Arizona announced the two-day bar examination results last week.

Out of the 101 graduates who took the test in July, 97 passed on the first attempt, which is 16 percent higher than the overall pass rate for those who take the test on the first time.

"Legal education does not directly correspond to bar exam scores and our program is aimed at preparing the whole lawyer ญญญ- not just ones who do well on standardized tests," said College of Law Dean Toni M. Massaro in a press release. "But the skills that our students acquire here - writing, critical thinking and synthesis of legal principles - all of those prepare our students to perform with distinction in many arenas."
