The mother of a resident at Manzanita-Mohave Residence Hall, 1010 N. Park Ave., called students working the front desk and the hall director about 10 times between September and early Friday morning demanding her daughter be moved, reports stated.
A student told police the mother had called around 12:15 a.m. on Friday and said the mother wanted her daughter to be moved from her current room to another room.
The student said the hall director had spoken with the daughter and said the daughter did not want to switch rooms. The student said the daughter had to be the one to request a new room.
The student said the mother had been told several times that her daughter did not want a new room but said the mother kept calling, reports stated.
The student said the mother had told her that she was going to be fired and out of a job because she was being lazy and not getting a room for her daughter.
The daughter told police she did not want a new room and said she had told her mother to quit calling.
Police called the mother and told her to stop calling because her daughter is 18 and has to request a move, reports stated.
The mother told police she would continue to call and write letters until her daughter was moved to a new room.
Police told the mother she could be charged with harassment.
The mother then said she was going to get a lawyer and sue police, Residence Life and all of the Manzanita-Mohave staff.
The mother then said police are lazy and don't do their job.
The mother then hung up, reports stated.
A man was booked into Pima County Jail early Friday morning after police found him sitting in a stolen car outside the Sigma Pi fraternity, 1525 E. Drachman St., reports stated.
A student called police around 12:20 a.m. and said the man was sitting outside.
Police ran the license plate of the car the man was sitting in and saw it had been reported missing.
Police handcuffed and searched the man. The man had a rolled up cigarette in his pocket. The man said it was half a joint, reports stated.
The man said another man had given him the joint. He said he had told the other man he didn't want the joint and the man had still placed the joint on his lap.
The man said he did not know why he was sitting in the parking lot. The man said he had borrowed the car from a friend, reports stated.
Police contacted the owner of the car. The owner said she had been at a friend's house and said the man had also been there. The owner said the man had asked to borrow her car and she had said no.
The owner told police she had left the room, and when she came back her car keys were gone.
The owner said she wanted to press charges.
Police found a Jeep radio, a portable radio and miscellaneous tools in the car.
The man was arrested for unlawful control of a means of transportation and possession of marijuana, reports stated.
A man was booked into Pima County Jail early Friday morning after a student saw him looking through the bike racks at Coronado Residence Hall, 822 E. Fifth St., reports stated.
When police arrived around 2 a.m. the man was looking at the different bikes.
The man had a bike with him, which he said was his. Police asked the man why he was on campus, and the man said his friend had locked his other bike to a bike rack.
The man said he was looking for his other bike.
Police ran a records check and saw the man had an outstanding warrant for his arrest.
The man was arrested and the bike was placed into property for safekeeping, reports stated.
