Venerable Stones play to sold out crowd in Glendale

Rolling Stones fans young and old flocked to the Glendale Arena Sunday night to catch a glimpse of the venerable rock 'n' roll band as they made a stop in the Phoenix area on their A Bigger Bang World Tour.
The concert was to promote the band's newest album, A Bigger Bang, and Glendale was the 40th stop on the tour, which started earlier this year in New York City. The band has crisscrossed the country, stopping in cities like Portland, Ore., Los Angeles, San Francisco and Boston. Even Duke University was a stop on the tour.
The Stones, as they're affectionately known, played to a sold-out crowd of more than 20,000 screaming fans, who stood up as soon as the first notes of "Start Me Up" came from the stage.
The show, which ran about two hours, featured a mix of old and new songs ranging from old classics like "Start Me Up," "Angie," "Rocks Off" and "You Got Me Rocking" to new songs like "Oh No Not You Again."
At 62, front man Mick Jagger still moves around the stage like a much younger person. Lead guitarist Keith Richards does the same; they were pretty good, considering these guys are old enough to join the AARP.
Nevertheless, despite the jokes about the band's combined age of about 200, the Stones sound just as good as ever, which is better than most rock bands. And if the Stones keep rocking as they did Sunday, you can expect to see the group for many years to come.
