A student admitted to having marijuana the afternoon of Nov. 28 after police pulled him over for having an expired license plate at East Speedway Boulevard and North Campbell Avenue, reports stated.

Police pulled the student over around 1:45 p.m. There was a backpack in the passenger seat of the student's car, and the student put the backpack on the floor.

The student then attempted to block the view of the backpack with his body.

Police smelled marijuana. The student was visibly shaking and was mumbling, reports stated.

The student had no proof of insurance on him.

Police asked the student why it smelled like marijuana, and the student said he had been at his friends' house and they had been smoking.

The student then said, "OK, I have a little pot in my backpack," reports stated.

Police found an orange plastic pill bottle with marijuana in it and a glass pipe in the student's backpack.

The student was cited for driving with expired plates, having no proof of insurance, possession of marijuana and possession of paraphernalia, reports stated.


A man was found with a plastic bag containing a green, leafy substance and two glass pipes the morning of Nov. 27 after police pulled him over for driving with an expired registration at North Euclid Avenue and East First Street, reports stated.

Police pulled the man over around 7 a.m. and discovered the man had a suspended license.

Police saw the bag and the two pipes on the floor in front of the passenger seat.

Police searched the man and found another bag containing a green, leafy substance in the man's pocket.

The man said the substance was marijuana but said he hadn't smoked it yet.

Police found residue in both glass pipes.

The man was cited for possession of marijuana, possession of paraphernalia and for driving on a suspended license with expired registration.

The man was released to a cab, and the bags and pipes were placed into evidence, reports stated.


The black "B" in front of the Beta Theta Pi fraternity, 645 E. University Blvd., was stolen Nov. 27, reports stated.

A fraternity member said he had last seen the letter around 1:30 a.m. on Nov. 27 and said he noticed that three letters were missing around 9 a.m.

The fraternity member said he found two of the letters on the side of the building but said he could not find the "B."

Police have no suspects or witnesses, reports stated.


A skateboarder ran into a student's car Nov. 27 in the Sixth Street Parking Garage, 1201 E. Sixth St., and then ran away, reports stated.

The student said the skateboarder was coming down the ramp and ran into his car around 5 p.m.

The student said he helped the skateboarder up and made sure the skateboarder was OK.

The student said he tried to exchange information with the skateboarder so that the damage to his car could be fixed, but said the skateboarder refused to give him any information.

Police searched the area but were unable to find the skateboarder, reports stated.


Two students were cited for possession of marijuana the night of Nov. 27 after a security guard smelled marijuana and saw the students smoking a cigar behind Navajo-Pinal Residence Hall, 1511 E. Sixth St., reports stated.

When police arrived around 7:46 p.m., the security guard was talking to the students. Police were behind the students and saw one of the students hand the cigar to the other student behind his back.

The student then saw police and whispered something to the other student. The other student then tossed the cigar into an ashtray.

The students admitted to smoking marijuana, and police found residue in the cigar.

The students were released and the cigar was put into evidence, reports stated.


A basketball flew through the window of Bear Down Gymnasium, 1428 E. University Blvd., on Nov. 26 while the men's basketball team was practicing, reports stated.

Police were handling another case when the basketball came through the window.

Police asked one of the basketball managers if he knew what had happened.

The manager said he had not seen the basketball fly through the window and said he did not know how it had happened.

The basketball was returned to the manager, reports stated.
