Football declares 2006 recruiting class today
Head coach Mike Stoops and the Arizona football team will announce the 2006 recruiting class today at 2:30 p.m. in McKale Center.
The Wildcats have 25 verbal, non-binding commitments, and athletes can start signing national letters of intent with their teams of choice today.
Three prospects - lauded junior college transfers Louis Holmes, Gabe Long and James Tretheway - have already inked letters of intent.
The national recruiting Web site www.scout.com ranked Arizona's 2006 class No. 16 in the nation entering today. The site rated last year's 18-member class, headed by quarterback Willie Tuitama, No. 11.
The team has received a verbal commitment from one national top-100 player, cornerback Devin Ross, the fourth-highest rated player at his position.
Scout.com four-star (on a five-star scale) wide receiver prospect Jamere Holland, who has narrowed his school choices to Arizona, Oregon and USC, has said he will finally commit today.
Facebook Forum in Dean of Students Office
The Dean of Students Office is organizing discussions this week to gather feedback from students about www.facebook.com and other online college networks.
There is an informal meeting from noon to 1:30 p.m. tomorrow in Old Main, Room 206.
A light lunch, likely pizza and soft drinks, will be served. Participants will not be required to stay for the entire session.
During the meeting, Will Broussard, program coordinator for Judicial Affairs, will lead a discussion on how students use online communities to communicate with other students, develop and represent identity and discover important information about the UA campus and fellow students.
Participants don't need to be members of Facebook or www.MySpace.com or be familiar with technology because the office is trying to take the pulse of the whole campus community.
Any student can call Broussard at 626-3557 to R.S.V.P. by today to attend tomorrow's session.
Clinique sale starts at bookstore
The UofA Bookstore begins the Clinique Bonus Time today.
The bookstore is giving away a Bonus Time Gift in time for Valentine's Day with any purchase of $21.50 or more at the Clinique counter.
Staff and faculty exclusively get an extra 10 percent off Clinique purchases by showing a valid CatCard.
The sale ends Feb. 19. The bookstore uses profits from sales to fund programs and events on campus, such as the student government and commencement ceremonies.
