The Wildcat women's tennis team recorded mixed results at the Cissie Leary Invitational, with senior Kelly Perry leading the way by advancing to the quarterfinal round in both singles and doubles action of the Philadelphia tournament.

Perry started her season off by winning her first two singles matches, beating Stephanie Schnitter of Harvard, 6-3, 6-4, in the round of 32 and Penn State's Maaria Husain in a hard-fought, 7-5, 6-4 victory in the Sweet 16 round after opening with a bye. Perry fell short, however against host Penn's Julia Koulbitskaya in straight sets, 6-4, 6-4.

Freshman Camelia Todorova opened her collegiate career victorious, defeating Penn State's Katelyn BeVard, 6-1, 6-3, in the round of 32 after a first round bye. Katie Williams of Penn stopped Todorova's run, beating her in two matches, 6-4, 6-0.

After the defeat, Todorova's inaugural tournament ended with a competitve 7-5, 4-6, 6-4, win over Harvard's Cindy Chu in a round of 16 playoff match. Later, Todorova paired with Chu in the doubles tournament, losing to Columbia's Marlena Hall and Christina Kim, 8-5.

Junior Iza Ferreira handily defeated Columbia's Molly Condit of Columbia 6-3, 6-0 in the first round. However, she failed to win a singles game the rest of the tournament.

Susanna Lingman of Harvard swept Ferreira 6-0, 6-0 in the round of 32 to send her to the consolation bracket where Lingman's Harvard teammate Melissa Anderson also defeated Ferreira 6-0, 6-0.

In doubles action, Perry and Ferreira teamed up to defeat Penn's Raluca Ciochina and Kate Williams in the round of 32. The Arizona duo also came up on top against Harvard's Melissa Anderson and Preethi Mukundan in an 8-4 decision.

Perry and Ferreira battled another Harvard pair in the quarterfinals, but top-seeded Elsa O'Riain and Courtney Bergman ended the Wildcats' run with an 8-1 victory.
