A UA employee was almost struck by a UA golf cart Thursday morning while he was walking at East University Boulevard and North Cherry Avenue, reports stated.
The employee told police he ran after the golf cart after it almost hit him.
The driver of the golf cart stopped and didn't realize he had almost hit the employee.
The employee then wrote down the plate number on the golf cart and walked away.
The employee said he didn't want to get the driver in trouble. The employee said he just wanted the driver to be warned.
Police traced the golf cart to the Grounds Department of Facilities Management. An employee there said she would talk to the driver of the golf cart, reports stated.
A gas pump and an 8-foot gas hose were found Thursday night on the steps in Gila Residence Hall, 1009 E. North Campus Drive, reports stated.
When police saw the gas pump and the hose they called risk management.
Risk management picked up the pump and the house and put them into hazardous storage, reports stated.
A student tried to switch food slips Thursday afternoon at the Cactus Grill, 1303 E. University Blvd. in order to pay less for his three-egg omelet, reports stated.
When police arrived the Cactus grill supervisor said the student has gotten an omelet with extra toppings that would have cost $5.28 and then had switched slips so that he only had to pay $2.63. The student was paying $2.65 less than he should have, reports stated.
The supervisor said the student had done similar price switches at least four times before to avoid paying full price.
The student said he had tried to switch the price and said he couldn't remember how many times he had done it before. The student said his motivation was stupidity, reports stated.
The supervisor said he didn't want to have the student cited and would rather have the student deferred to the Dean of Students.
The supervisor told the student he could still have the omelet if he paid what was still due. The student agreed and took the omelet, reports stated.
Someone wrote on a man's car with white shoe polish sometime between Tuesday night and Wednesday night while the man's car was parked in the Sixth Street Garage, 1201 E. Sixth St., reports stated.
The man said he had parked his car on the fourth level around 8 p.m. Tuesday, and when he returned around 7 p.m. on Wednesday he noticed the shoe polish on his windshield.
Someone had written, "Pay your bill you dork," reports stated.
The shoe polish could be easily scraped off with a fingernail.
Police have no suspects or witnesses, reports stated.
A student riding his bike on North Mountain Avenue and East First Street was almost hit by an ASUA SafeRide car Thursday night, reports stated.
The student said when the SafeRide car had gone by he had had to extend his hand and touch the rear trunk to avoid being hit. The student said he had lost his balance and had fallen off his bike. The student said he had tried to wave down the driver, but she hadn't seen him.
The student said he had memorized the license plate. He said the incident was partially his fault because he didn't have bike lights.
The student said he just wanted police to talk to the driver and said he didn't want to press charges.
Police then found the SafeRide car and pulled the driver over. The driver said she wasn't aware that she had almost hit the student. She said she hadn't heard the student hit her trunk and said her passenger hadn't said anything to her either.
The driver was apologetic and said she had seen the biker and had thought she was clear of him.
Police contacted the SafeRide supervisor and told him to warn his drivers to be more careful.
Police also told the student that he needed to buy a headlight, reports stated.
Three students and a Pima Community College student were thought to have been smoking marijuana early Thursday morning in front of the Life Sciences South building, 1007 E. Lowell St., reports stated.
When police approached the group of males, two of the students quickly walked away and wouldn't stop when police told them to.
The two other students remained. The two students who had walked away finally stopped and police smelled marijuana. The students allowed police to search them. Police found rolling papers and tobacco on one of the students, but they didn't find any marijuana.
One of the students told police he was going to smoke marijuana but his two friends had walked away and lit a joint. Another student told police he didn't know anything about anyone smoking marijuana.
The students were not cited for anything but a report was sent to the Dean of Students about the incident, reports stated.
