Arizona sophomore cross country runner Robert Cheseret won the individual title while the men's and women's cross country teams both placed sixth in the Pacific 10 Championships Saturday in San Francisco.

Cheseret narrowly defeated Stanford's Ryan Hall for the title while the Cardinal won both of the team titles for the fifth consecutive year.

Cheseret and Hall each finished with times of 23:48 on the 8,000-meter course, but Cheseret was awarded the victory after edging Hall at the finish line.

"It was surprising that I won," said Cheseret in a press release. " At a couple meets I've been struggling a little bit, but I feel good. For cross country, this is the biggest meet I've won."

Freshman Mohamed Trafeh was the second Wildcat across the finish line placing 23rd.

On the women's side, senior Beth Hoge led Arizona with an 18th-place finish. Hoge crossed the finish line of the 6,000-meter course with a time of 21:40. UA junior Amber Steen was the second Wildcat to finish, taking 35th overall.

The Wildcats will compete at the NCAA West Regional Championships Nov. 13 at Fresno State.
