A student's $3,500 laptop, $500 iPaq pocket PC and software was stolen from his room in Skyview Apartments, 1050 E. Eighth St., sometime Saturday night, reports stated.
His roommate's suitcase was also slashed open but none of its contents were missing, reports stated.
The student's laptop was locked to his desk using a cable. The cable had been shredded so the laptop could be removed, reports stated.
The student estimated the break-in occurred between 8 p.m. Saturday and 2:30 a.m. Sunday, because it was the time he was out of the room, reports stated.
The room had been re-keyed because of a recent break-in and only he and his roommate had keys, reports stated.
Items were also stolen at the previous break-in.
Police inspected the deadbolt to the student's front door and did not see any signs of forced entry.
The resident assistant on duty said there was no master key to all the rooms in the building, only a duplicate key to be checked out by the resident, reports stated.
Police told the student to check with parents to see if the theft falls under their homeowner's policy, reports stated.
The student was also told to contact UA Investigative Unit to see if the computer can be traced, reports stated.
Police have no suspects or witnesses.
A student was arrested for underage drinking after police found him passed out in the lawn of the Theta Tau fraternity house, 1030 N. Martin Ave., at 5:15 a.m. Sunday, reports stated.
An officer saw the student sleeping on the grass and sidewalk and made two attempts to alert him of his presence verbally, but the student did not respond, reports stated.
The officer then shook the student's foot. The student sat up and said he didn't need medication, reports stated.
The student smelled like alcohol and had red, watery, bloodshot eyes, reports stated.
The student was transported to his home and diverted to the Dean of Student's Office, reports stated.
Someone spray painted "fat chicks" in black on the ground in front of the Delta Delta Delta sorority house, 1541 E. Second St., sometime Sunday, reports stated.
A 12-inch black line was also painted on the front of one of the steps of the residence.
UA grounds service was contacted to clean the damage, but said they would not report to a sorority house for property damage, reports stated.
A resident said she would try to remove the paint herself, reports stated.
Police have no suspects or witnesses.
A student was arrested for possession of paraphernalia in La Paz Residence Hall, 602 N. Highland Ave., just after midnight Saturday, reports stated.
A resident of the hall called police after he knocked on the student's door because he was playing loud music. When the student opened his door the resident saw a bong inside and called police.
The one-and-a-half-foot green and blue bong had residue believed to be marijuana, reports added.
The student told police it was his and he had smoked all the marijuana in his possession, reports stated.
Police searched the student's room and did not find anything else, reports stated.
The bong was placed into evidence and is being sent to have a scientific examination to confirm the residue was marijuana, reports stated.
A student lost her $2,500 three-quarter-carat diamond and sapphire wedding ring between the Student Union Memorial Center, 1303 E. University Blvd., and the Ceramics Building in the Park Garage Area, North Park Avenue and East Helen Street, sometime Thursday afternoon, reports stated.
The student said she took the ring off and placed it in a ring box and put it in her pocket. She suspects the ring fell out of her pocket between the two buildings, reports stated.
Someone stole $20 to $30 worth of change from a parking meter in front of the Chi Omega sorority house, 1420 E. First St., sometime Thursday or Friday, reports stated.
An employee from Parking and Transportation Services said the dual meter had been pulled from the ground and broken into many pieces sometime between Thursday at 5 p.m. and Friday at 7 a.m., reports stated.
The meter was photographed and the film was placed into evidence, reports stated.
