A student's wallet containing three credit cards and $200 was taken from her book bag while it was in a room at the Department of Speech and Hearing Sciences, 1131 E. Second St., reports stated. At 8:30 a.m. Nov. 17, the student left her bag unattended. When she returned 30 minutes later, her bag was in another room across the hall and her wallet was gone, reports stated. The student told police she called her credit card companies to report the theft and was told someone had already charged $500 to one of the cards after it had been missing for two days. The card was used at two department stores, a fast food restaurant and a gas station, reports stated. The student told UAPD she would give them the names of the places where the credit card was used. All other credit cards in the wallet were cancelled. Police have no suspects or witnesses.
A student's $300 laptop and another student's $900 digital camera were stolen early Nov. 19 from the Architecture building, 1040 N. Olive Road, reports stated. The student's left the room at 5:30 a.m. and when another student returned at 8:30 a.m. he noticed the items were missing. Twenty people share the office and no one in the office noticed anyone steal the items. The room is left unlocked at all times. Police have no suspects or witnesses.
Two students were arrested for underage drinking when they tried to enter the UA basketball game Nov. 18 with only one ticket, reports stated. Police arrested the students at McKale Center, 1721 E. Enke Dr., at 7:25 p.m., reports stated. Police administered blood alcohol tests on both students. One student's BAC was .196 and the other's was .305, reports stated. The second student was cleared by medics, but thought it was midnight when the officer asked. It was actually 7:30 p.m., reports stated.
Two students were referred to the Dean of Students' office for smoking marijuana on the top level of Tyndall Avenue Garage at 10:26 p.m. Nov. 18, reports stated. Police turned onto the top level of the garage and smelled burning marijuana. Two students were sitting on the ground directly upwind of the odor, reports stated. Police searched the male student and detected a moderate smell of marijuana on his clothing, but found nothing on him, reports stated. The female student said she thought he might have some marijuana on him, reports stated. Both students were referred for a code of conduct violation, reports stated.
A student's cell phone was stolen from his room in Coronado Residence Hall, 822 E. Fifth St., sometime Nov. 15, reports stated. The student said he was in and out of his room between 9 a.m. and 9 p.m. and noticed his cell phone missing, reports stated. The student said he tried to call the phone and remembered it was turned off, reports stated. The student called the company and canceled his service. The student said his door was unlocked on and of throughout the day as well, reports stated. Police have no suspects or witnesses.
Someone shot eight yellow paintballs at the Agricultural Research Center, 4101 N. Campbell Ave., sometime between Nov. 8 and Nov. 17, reports stated. The north side of the building was hit with the paintballs. The employee who reported the incident to police has no idea who may have shot the building, reports stated. Police have no suspects or witnesses.
A custodian found a cardboard box containing three different sized jars in the food court of the Student Union Memorial Center, 1303 E. University Blvd., Nov. 17, reports stated. The jars all contained a clear liquid and there was a paint thinner odor coming from the jars, reports stated. The package was transported to UAPD where risk management took possession of the items to test, reports stated. The package was sent from an auto parts store on Nov. 3 to a UA civil engineering student.
