After knocking off top-10 teams in consecutive weeks at home, the No. 20 Arizona women's gymnastics team hits the road tonight to compete in Seattle against No. 22 Washington, No. 24 Minnesota and Seattle-Pacific.
"The road meets are always fun to travel with the team. I always get excited," said senior Monica Bisordi.
With wins over then-No. 6 Michigan State Jan. 14 and No. 7 ASU last weekend, the Gymcats are back in the Top 25 after a weeklong absence, their first in 49 polls.
Bisordi was the top all-around finisher for the UA last weekend, placing third with a score of 38.550 in four events. Again, she will be looked upon to be a big contributor in Seattle.
Gymcats head coach Bill Ryden said the team needs to be focused tonight because, in terms of postseason qualifying, away meets are more valuable than home meets.
Ryden added that, for the most part, he has been pleased with individual efforts from his team, but he'd like to see more teamwork in some events, particularly floor exercise.
"We have had some great individual performances this year, but we have yet to really put together a solid floor performance as a group," Ryden said.
Arizona also ranks in the top-25 in each of the four individual events. The Gymcats are currently No. 23 in the floor exercise with an average score of 48.592. They are No. 22 on balance beam (48.167), No. 22 in vault (48.583) and No. 24 in the uneven bars (48.225).
The Gymcats will go back on the road next weekend when they travel to Berkeley, Calif., to take on California.
