A student received two suspicious phone calls from an unknown person at Navajo Residence Hall, 1557 E. Sixth St., on Jan. 26 and Monday, reports stated.
The student told police on Jan. 26 and Monday at 2 p.m., he received a phone call in his room, reports stated.
The man on the phone told him he qualified for an $8,000 grant, reports stated.
On both occasions the student told the caller he did not apply for a grant and asked the caller to send him the application, reports stated.
The caller told the student he could not do that, but all they needed was his bank information to receive the money, reports stated.
The student told the man that he would not do that unless they mailed him the application, reports stated.
The student told police on both occasions the man disconnected the line, but on the second call he attempted *57. However, a voice recording said the call could not be traced, reports stated.
The student told police both calls came from a man with a heavy Middle Eastern accent, reports stated.
Police told the student to watch his bank accounts closely and report any further suspicious calls, reports stated.
Police have no suspects or witnesses.
A student's car was spray painted while parked in a Zone 1 lot, 520 N. Euclid Ave., sometime between Jan. 25 and Sunday, reports stated.
The student told police she parked her car on Jan. 25 at 8 p.m. and when she returned on Sunday at 12:30 p.m. the taillights and headlights of her car were spray painted with black paint, reports stated.
Police found no investigative leads and have no suspects or witnesses.
An unknown male shot a paintball at a student from the fourth level of the Sixth Street Parking Garage, 1201 E. Sixth St., Sunday evening, reports stated.
The student told police she was walking east on the sidewalk of Sixth Street when she heard a noise coming from the garage, reports stated.
She looked up and saw a man with a gun, reports stated.
The student told police she thought he was shooting at her, so she ran into the parking garage, reports stated.
She then saw a white paintball mark on the sidewalk and realized the man was shooting at her with a paintball gun, but had missed her, reports stated.
She began yelling at him, calling him an "asshole." The shooter then left the area, reports stated.
The student did not get a good look at the shooter since his face was behind the gun, reports stated.
She told police she did not report the incident for two hours because she did not think it was a big deal because it was only a paintball gun, reports stated.
Police searched the fourth floor of the parking garage and the entire sidewalk along the parking garage and found no evidence of a discharged paintball, reports stated.
Police have no other witnesses or suspects.
A student's bike was stolen from a bike rack in front of the Kappa Sigma Fraternity House, 1423 E. First St., sometime between Jan. 23 and Jan. 24, reports stated.
The student told police he last saw his bike locked to the bike rack in front of the fraternity house on Jan. 23 and discovered it missing on Jan. 24, reports stated.
The student found the U-Lock cut and lying on the ground, reports stated.
Police have no suspects or witnesses.
A student's truck was broken into and the driver's side visor with CD holder and CDs were stolen while parked at Gamma Phi Beta Sorority House, 1535 E. First St., Monday night, reports stated.
The student told police she parked her pickup and was walking into her sorority when a friend saw a man getting out of the passenger side of her truck and get into another car with two other men, reports stated.
The car was in the space next to her truck. The car left the parking lot, reports stated.
Police circled the area, but were unable to locate the car, reports stated.
The student told police the visor with the CD holder and approximately 20 CDs of various country western artists were the only items missing from her truck, reports stated.
Police saw a Christmas card lying in the passenger seat and the student told police the card had been in the center console, reports stated.
Fingerprints were lifted from the Christmas card and the passenger door, reports stated.
Police have no suspects or witnesses.
