Yesterday was a good day for Stacy Doggett.
In town with her Austrailian teammates to take on the Arizona golf team in an exhibition match, Doggett broke the women's course record at Starr Pass Country Club. Her 69 bested the previous record of 72 by ex-Arizona golfer Page Gilbert.
The Austrailian national delegation proved too much for the Wildcats as the men fell 71/2-41/2 and the women's team lost 10-2.
Representing the Wildcat men were Chris Berry, Jon Whittaker, Matt Bergstrom and Eric Sage. Arizona's women's delegation included Heather Graff, Erin Maney, Christina Tollerton and Kathy Zadvorny.
The exhibition was played in match play format. Berry, paired with Jason Dawes, shot a 78. Dawes, Austrailia's No. 1-ranked amateur, shot a 74. Whittaker and Jaime McKallum tied at 76. Bergstrom (84) topped Matt Goggin, who shot an 86.
