The Department of Student Programs is looking for someone to direct its efforts in leadership planning and student life development.

Carol Thompson, the previous department director, left Student Programs in June 1993 to take a position as Associate Dean of Students, said Tanya Hladky, an administrative assistant in the department. Eddie Hull then served as interim director, but returned to his position as associate director of residence life in June 1994.

Dan Maxwell is the department's interim director, Hladky said.

A national search is being conducted for a director whose job description includes overseeing student government, Greek Life, the University Activities Board, Student Leadership Development, student organization recognition, Family Weekend, KAMP Student Radio and the Center for Off-Campus students.

Applicants should have experience working with minority and non-traditional student needs and advocating student issues. They should also possess a master's degree in student development or a related field and administrative experience in student activities or student life.

The salary for the position will be based on experience, but will not exceed $46,000, Thompson said.

Letters of interest, resumes and four references, including at least one student, should be sent to Judy Bassnett in the Dean of Students Office. Review of applicants begins Oct. 1.
