A 21-year-old student was arrested Wednesday for the theft of a $600 UA parking permit.

Police arrested Shawn Parnell, of the 4600 block of East 29th Street, when Parking and Transportation Services called to report that a stolen permit had been seen in Parnell's car, parked at Enke Drive and North Martin Avenue.

When police arrived Parnell was standing near his vehicle and he denied stealing the permit. He told police he found the permit in the street near Enke Drive and North Campbell Avenue earlier that morning. But parking and transportation employees said they observed the permit in the car the day before.

Parnell was cited and released.
