Arizona in sixth place at Mauna Kea

Less than a week after the Arizona men's golf team's victory in the PING Arizona Intercollegiate, the Wildcats are back in action on the coast of Hawaii.

The Wildcats are in sixth place after two rounds at the Mauna Kea Resort Collegiate Invitational golf tournament. The tournament is being played at the Hapuna Golf Course on the Kohala Coast. There are 14 teams in the tournament including Nagoya University from Japan.

Southern Cal leads the field with a 566, 11 shots ahead of defending NCAA champion Oklahoma State. Oregon State is third at 586 followed by Arkansas (590) and Arizona State (591). Arizona has a two-round total of 592. Oregon, in 12th place, is the only other Pacific 10 Conference school in the tournament.

Individually, USC golfer Brian Hull is in first place with a 9-under par 135. The Wildcats have only Scott Willie in the top 10. Willie shot a 1-over par 145. Ted Purdy, the individual champion at the PING Intercollegiate, Chase Kelly and Todd Rose all shot 149 and were tied for 20th going into yesterday's final round. Aman Bahl is tied for 64th with a 164.

Play concluded late yesterday with 18 holes.
