The on-duty supervisor at the Student Recreation Center, 1400 E. Sixth St., called police at 5:37 p.m. Friday after a student allegedly punched a UA employee after a basketball game in the gymnasium.

According to the employee, the student had been calling him a "punk," "bitch," and other names during the game, and immediately following the match, the student punched him. Police reports indicate Rec Center officials have warned the student in the past about his "attitude."

The student later called police and said the employee had been antagonizing him during the game. The student said he punched the employee after the employee grabbed him after the game. Officers urged the student to come to police headquarters and file a statement.

The investigation is ongoing.

University police arrested a UA student on charges of disorderly conduct Friday evening after he reportedly swore at a nearby police officer.

Shortly before 6:00 p.m., a UAPD squad car was traveling eastbound on East Sixth Street between North Santa Rita Avenue and Mountain Avenue when three males ran out into traffic, causing the officer to slam on his brakes and honk the horn. One of the males allegedly yelled "fuck you" at the stopped police car. The three then entered a truck waiting in the left-hand turn lane.

The officer stopped the truck on a nearby side street and arrested Miguel R. Lerma, 20, of the 1800 block of East Blacklidge Drive, on disorderly conduct charges.

The driver was cited for misuse of a left-hand turn lane, and police cited the three passengers for "pedestrians in the roadway." All four were later released.

One of the men cited for illegally running across the street was arrested later the same evening for kicking in a door-mounted window at the Math building, 617 N. Santa Rita Ave.

Jeremy W. Mohr, 21, of the 1800 block of East Blacklidge Drive, was detained on charges of criminal damage after a custodian saw a man kick in the window.

The custodian's description fit Mohr, who had been waiting at UAPD headquarters for Lerma's release.

Officers called Mohr and asked him to come to the police station, which he did. Mohr told police he didn't mean to break the window. He was cited and released.

Police notified Facilities Management about the broken window.

A resident of the Alpha Omicron Pi sorority, 1731 E. Second St., called police Saturday after she received a harassing phone call from an ex-boyfriend at 2:17 a.m.

Police reports indicate the caller threatened to throw the victim's bicycle in the trash. Although the two broke up in December, the bicycle was stored at the ex-boyfriend's fraternity house.

The victim told police she would not press charges, but wanted to file a report to get a restraining order. She told police he only calls after he has been drinking.

The bicycle was later recovered undamaged.

A UA student and two men were arrested on charges of minor in possession of alcohol over the weekend.

John G. Herpers, 18, of Denver, was stopped by police at 1:04 a.m. Friday outside Sigma Pi Epsilon fraternity, 1420 N. Vine Ave., while police were searching for the person who threw small stones over the fraternity's roof, hitting some people who were there for a party.

When officers asked Herpers for identification, he turned and began running south, police reports stated. University police caught up with him approximately 75 yards away and pushed him to the ground.

Herpers was transported to Pima County Jail for holding, since he had no local address.

Jonathan A. Zucker, 18, of Tempe, was arrested Friday at 12:43 a.m. outside the same party after off-duty officers observed him exiting the party with a can of beer in each pocket.

Officers asked him how he had obtained the beer and found a fictitious Arizona identification card in his wallet. He was cited and released on the scene.

In an unrelated incident, Jared J. Cutler, 18, a resident of Arizona-Sonora Residence Hall, 910 E. Fifth St., was arrested Saturday at 11:40 p.m. outside Kappa Sigma fraternity.

Police reports indicate that when officers asked Cutler to confirm his identity, he gave officers a friend's license, which he had used to gain entry to the party at 1423 E. First St.

He was cited and released at the scene. The license was placed into evidence.
