Multiple computer components were stolen from campus buildings in two separate instances last week.

A Digital workstation was taken from a classroom in the Economics building, 1110 E. North Campus Drive, sometime between 8 p.m. Thursday and 9:55 a.m. Friday.

A UA employee called police after finding the computer missing as well as pry marks near the lock and door jam at the entrance to the room.

Police reports indicate the workstation was the fastest computer and only one in the room that did not have its serial numbers logged.

Officers lifted latent fingerprints from cables which had been attached to the stolen computer.

The stolen computer, monitor and keyboard are valued at $8,959.

University police are investigating the incident.

In a separate incident, a Hewlett-Packard inkjet 225c printer was stolen from an open computer room in the Old Chemistry building, 1300 E. University Blvd.

Between 2:30 and 5 p.m. Sunday, someone swiped the printer, which is valued at $200.

No suspicious people were seen in either of the two incidents.

A UA student called university police at 3 a.m. Saturday after seeing two males set fire to piles of paper on the southwest loading dock of the Music building, 1017 N. Olive Ave. The loading dock to its wall, door and a fire panel were damaged in the incident.

Police reports indicate the student saw the men laughing and then run to their cars as flames appeared. The student was able to identify one vehicle as a 1992 Subaru coupe.

Another witness saw both a Subaru coupe and a Nissan pickup truck leave the scene.

Officers soon arrived, but were unable to extinguish the blaze. Tucson Fire Department then arrived and put out the flames.

University police are investigating the incident as arson.

A female employee at the University Medical Center called UMC security after receiving numerous harassing phone calls. UMC security officers then called university police.

Police reports indicate a former patient who may be mentally disturbed called the employee 40 to 50 times a day between Feb. 14 and Friday. The caller said she wants $400 owed to her for purchasing tampons.

Police received a cassette recording of one of the phone calls and has activated a USWest phone trace on the affected line.

University police served a warrant on Jason S. Carrillo, 25, of the 6600 block of East Scarlett, after Tucson police arrested him on an unrelated charge of third-degree escape charges.

Carrillo was wanted by university police on a 1993 charge of aggravated assault on a peace officer.

Carrillo is currently being held in Pima County Jail.

A female student called police after her purse was taken from Harshbarger building, 1133 E. North Campus Drive.

At 3:38 p.m. Monday, the student was walking out of the building when realized she did not have her purse. She could not find the bag and it was not turned into lost and found.

Reports indicate the purse contained credit, bank and identification cards and various keys. The value of the stolen items is unknown.

The student plans to rekey her doors and cancel her credit cards.

Another female student reported her wallet stolen from the Psychology building, 1503 E. University Blvd.

Between 2 and 6 p.m. Jan. 18, someone took the wallet which contained credit and bank cards and $20 in cash. The stolen items are valued at $25.

Police reports did not state why the student waited over a month to report the crime.

Between 4 p.m. Friday and 7:50 a.m. Monday, someone stole a black 15-speed Cannondale mountain bicycle which was U-locked to a rack in the backyard of Kaibab-Huachuca Residence Hall, 922 E. Fourth St.

The stolen items are valued at $400.

In a separate incident, someone stole a silver and blue Trek mountain bicycle that was U-locked to racks south of the Student Union, 1303 E. University Blvd., between 12:30 p.m. Friday and 12:30.

The stolen items are valued at $650.
