Police arrested a UA student Wednesday after he allegedly cursed at employees and refused to leave the Associated Students Computing And Technology Store, 1209 E. University Blvd.

Albert L. Gharidini, 42, of the 1500 block of North Euclid Avenue, reportedly entered CATS at 8:45 a.m. and tried to return an opened CD-ROM disc he purchased there several months ago.

Police reports indicate when employees told him they could not refund his money for a used CD, he became verbally abusive and yelled, using several curse words.

Officers arrived to find Gharidini sitting in a chair, refusing to leave the premises. The store manager told police by telephone that he wanted the student escorted from the store and told not to return.

When officers confronted Gharidini, he told officers, "I'm not going anywhere. I'm going to wait for my lawyer."

After confirming Gharidini's intent to stay, officers arrested him on charges of loitering and disorderly conduct.

While being taken from the building, he continued to yell, "I have a receipt. Isn't anyone going to exchange this CD?" Reports indicate he repeated this eight or nine times, getting louder each time.

Gharidini was taken to Pima County Jail where he was booked.

University police were involved in the high-speed pursuit of a car sought in a carjacking Wednesday evening.

At 11:39 p.m., officers spotted the vehicle, a 1985 white Oldsmobile sedan, at East Speedway Boulevard and North Mountain Avenue seconds after Tucson police broadcasted an all-points-bulletin.

The chase proceeded westbound on Speedway, reaching 80 mph at times. The Oldsmobile ran a number of red lights at high speed, police reports stated.

Several Tucson Police Department vehicles and a police helicopter joined the chase after the suspect vehicle crossed Interstate 10, and UA Police Department units discontinued their pursuit.

Tucson police took the driver and a passenger into custody after their sedan swerved off the road and crashed near the corner of West Ajo Way and North Kinney Road.

A UA student was arrested at 2:26 a.m. Wednesday when he gave police a fictitious Florida driver's license after being stopped for bicycle violations at East Second Street and North Highland Avenue.

David J. Brown, 18, a resident of Kaibab-Huachuca Hall, 922 E. Fourth St., was stopped for riding his bicycle without a light and going the wrong way on a one-way street.

Police reports state as the student gave police his student identification card, officers noticed a driver's license in his wallet. When they asked to see it, Brown was visibly reluctant. He finally gave officers the license and admitted it was false.

Brown was cited for possession of a fictitious driver license and falsification of information to police officers. He was cited and released at the scene. The license was placed into evidence.

Three instances of larceny from and damage to a motor vehicle occurred Wednesday in a parking lot west of Arizona Stadium, 530 N. Vine Ave.

Between 1 and 3:30 p.m. Wednesday, someone broke the driver's-side window of a student's 1989 Mazda sedan.

Two CD player adapters were stolen, but the student had taken the player from the car earlier.

No suspicious people were seen in the area and the damage to the car is estimated at $100.

In a separate incident, the driver's-side window of a Mazda 626 was shattered in the same parking lot sometime before 11 a.m. Wednesday.

Officers found the glove compartment open, but could not determine whether anything was missing.

Minutes after finding the damaged Mazda 626, officers found the driver's-side window of a Toyota Tercel shattered and its radio missing.

None of the owners were present when the damage was found.

An employee at the College of Medicine, 1501 N. Campbell Ave., called police Wednesday after finding his AM/FM compact disc and cassette radio stolen from his office.

Between 6:20 p.m. Monday and 6:45 a.m. Tuesday, someone took the stereo from his locked office.

Officers found no signs of forced entry and the victim said 12 other people and janitors have keys to the room.

Between 8 a.m. and 2:30 p.m. Wednesday, a student's Hardrock 21-speed bicycle was stolen from a courtyard east of the Civil Engineering building, 1209 E. Second St.

The bicycle was secured to itself with a U-lock. The stolen items are valued at $314.
