A UA student arrested Friday evening on charges of misrepresenting his age to obtain alcohol positively identified the leader of a fake identification ring on campus.Scott A. Golman, 20, a resident of Coronado Hall, 822 E. Fifth St., was arrested at 9:45 p.m. outside a party at Zeta Beta Tau fraternity, 1011 N. The security officers referred the questionable license to police. Golman later admitted the card was false and said he obtained it earlier this semester from a resident of Arizona-Sonora Hall, 910 E. Fifth St., who was arrested in a Feb. 20 police sting operation in connection with the production and sale of fake ID cards.
Police reports state Golman said he knew the identity of another involved in the fake ID ring who has not yet been implicated in the case. Police would not release the suspect's name until they had investigated further.
Golman said he met "the main guy" in a room at Arizona-Sonora last December. Golman later identified the suspect's picture on a photocopy of false ID cards confiscated during the February raid on the Arizona-Sonora resident's room.
University police are investigating the connection.
