There is just no pleasing Carrie Dolan.

The junior pitcher led the third-ranked Arizona softball team to an 8-0 victory yesterday with a four-hit, three-strikeout performance against No. 14 Michigan at the Hillenbrand Invitational at Lincoln Park, but still found cause for alarm.

"I'm not a pitcher who can go out and throw for a long time. Tomorrow, I'm going to suck," she said, laughing.

Obviously, the team hopes otherwise.

Arizona (16-2) broke the game open in the top of the third when they touched Michigan All-American Sara Griffin for five runs.

Right fielder Andrea Doty led off the inning with a single, and third baseman Krista Gomez followed that with a single to left. Center fielder Alison Johnsen doubled off the fence in center to score Doty and the next batter. Second baseman Jenny Dalton gave the Wildcats a 3-0 lead with a two-run double to center. Catcher Lety Pineda then singled and advanced to second on a throwing error, and first baseman Lisa Pitt finished the scoring in the third with a two-run single.

The victory for the Wildcats was their 14th straight after blasting North Carolina 19-3 earlier in the day.

Arizona was led in that game by the hitting of Dalton. She was 4-4 with a single, double, two home runs - including one grand slam - and an NCAA record-tying nine RBI.

The nine RBI ties a record set last year by former Arizona shortstop Laura Espinoza.

UA continues play in the invitational today at Lincoln with a 1 p.m. meeting with the Tar Heels and a 3 p.m. game with No. 9 Oklahoma.
