Three incidents of bicycle-related larceny were reported to university police over spring break.

A resident of Lambda Chi Alpha fraternity, 1402 N. Vine Ave., called police after his Cannondale mountain bicycle was taken from his locked room in the fraternity house.

He left March 8 at 5 p.m., and returned March 16 at 9:30 p.m. to find his window open and bicycle missing.

Members of the fraternity who remained at the house over break said they had seen nothing suspicious. The bicycle is valued at $1,200.

In an unrelated case, someone reportedly stole a student's "Virgin Mary blue" Schwinn bicycle between 1 p.m. March 8 and 9:30 a.m. March 18 from racks west of the Education building, 1430 E. Second St.

The bicycle was locked with a chain and is valued at $500.

In a separate incident, a female student reported her front bicycle tire and rim missing from racks north of Gila Residence Hall, 1009 E. North Campus Drive.

Between 12 p.m. March 8 and 8:10 a.m. March 18, someone took the parts, valued at $25. The bicycle was secured with a U-lock through the rear wheel.

The victim told police she noticed a similar tire locked to a nearby rack and believed it may be hers.

University police arrested a Tucson man on DUI charges Monday after officers observed his car swerving between lanes on North First Avenue near East Glenn Street.

Alfonso M. Simiano, 48, of Santa Fe, N.M., was cited for driving under the influence of alcohol and DUI with a blood alcohol concentration above .10 after failing field sobriety tests, and an Intoxilyzer test showed a blood-alcohol concentration of .171.

He was cited and released to a local taxi company.

A Tucson man called police after someone stole his science fair project from Bear Down Gymnasium, 1428 E. University Blvd.

Between 5 p.m. March 11 and 9 a.m. Friday, someone took the 3-by-3-foot poster board on which the project was presented.

The victim said he feels another student may have taken the project.

A female student told police she found items stolen from her wallet after she left it on top of a pay phone near McKale Center, 1721 E. Enke Drive, at 4:40 p.m. Monday.

A man found the wallet and turned it in to university police. When the student went to police headquarters to recover the wallet, she noticed it was missing $10 and a ticket voucher for the UA basketball game in Denver valued at $120.

Officers advised the student to take up the matter with the McKale ticket office.
