The shuttle, driven by UA employee Rafael Torres, pulled away from the north curb and turned left to drive around the flagpole.

Police reports indicate Torres did not see Arnquist in time to stop and she collided with the front of the shuttle.

Two students reported the attempted theft of their backpacks in separate incidents Tuesday.

At 1:45 p.m., a female student in the Architecture building, 1040 N. Olive Ave., left her work area for a moment and returned to find her backpack missing, police reports stated.

The student searched the surrounding rooms and found the backpack in a first-floor men's restroom. She told police nothing was taken from the bag.

Police reports indicate a man asked the student for the time moments before she left her work area. As she was returning, she reportedly saw him in the hall carrying a backpack.

The victim said she will provide police with a composite sketch of the suspect.

In a separate incident, a female employee at the Main Gate building, 888 N. Euclid Ave., left her work area at 12:15 p.m. and returned to find her backpack missing.

She told police a man who entered the room as she was leaving may have taken the backpack.

A male co-worker checked the surrounding rooms and found the backpack with all its contents in a fourth floor men's restroom.

The suspect was not found in the area.

A student reported Tuesday that her bicycle was stolen sometime since spring break began.

Between 7 p.m. March 7 and 12:53 a.m. Tuesday, someone stole a student's Trek mountain bicycle and its U-lock from the racks at Corleone Apartments, 1330 N. Park Ave.

The bicycle was secured to the rack with the U-lock. The value of the stolen items is unknown.

A UA employee at the Dairy Research Center, 2130 E. Allen Road, called police Tuesday to report that valves to the livestock water supply were shut off sometime between 3 p.m. Friday and 8 a.m. Monday.

Police reports indicate no workers at the center deactivated the valves.

An overflow tank kept the cattle supplied with water, but if the valves were shut off during summer months, the livestock would have been without water.

The employee said no damage was done, but wanted to report the incident due to the frequent acts of vandalism found at UA farms.
