Officers said they noticed a strong smell of alcohol emanating from his 1988 Honda hatchback.

Hermanstorfer failed field sobriety tests and two Intoxilyzer screenings indicated blood-alcohol concentrations of .119 and .126, police reports stated.

The man was cited on charges of driving under the influence of alcohol, DUI with a BAC above .10, and minor operating a vehicle with alcohol in body. He was later released to his mother.

Police arrested a UA student at 4:47 p.m. Friday in connection with a parking boot stolen last week.

Shane R. Closser, 20, a resident of Babcock Inn, 1717 E. Speedway Blvd., was arrested and charged with theft under $500 in the parking lot at East First Street and North Mountain Avenue.

Parking and Transportation officials called police after they located a previously booted vehicle that disappeared from its original location Friday.

Closser reportedly asked officers if he could return the boot, and later he produced the missing $499 Sabot Universal Boot from the trunk of his 1983 Honda sedan.

Police reports indicate the boot was initially attached to the vehicle very loosely.

After Closser admitted knowing the boot was not his, he was cited and released at the scene.

The parking boot was returned to Parking and Transportation Services.
