Everyone has right to die with dignity

Editor:

I just wanted to say that Ms. Patchett wrote a wonderful column on Dr. Kevorkian (March 25). I believe everyone has a right to end his/her life, particularly if continued existence means prolonged pain before an inevitable end. Life is not worth living if all you do is suffer. Doctors are supposed to help ease suffering, so that's exactly what they should do, whether it means prescribing pain killers for a sprained ankle or assisting a terminally ill patient perform suicide. The greatest right a person can have is the right to die with dignity.
