University police responded to a fight-in-progress call at Park Student Center, 615 N. Park Ave., Sunday afternoon.At 3:53 p.m., officers found Ronald F. Collinson, 25, a Park Student Center employee, and Michael D. Bickell, 19, a Domino's Pizza employee, arguing on the first floor of the center. Both were red in the face and had "messed up" hair, police reports stated.
Both initially denied fighting, but a witness at the scene told officers the two had been fighting moments before officers arrived.
University police arrested both suspects for disorderly conduct. A record check showed Collinson had an outstanding warrant for possession of drug paraphernalia. He was transported to Pima County Jail.. Bickell was cited and released.
University police arrested two juveniles Friday in connection with a vehicle break-in at the Park Avenue Garage, 1140 N. Park Ave.
At 12:04 a.m., patrolling officers found three males standing around a 1986 Isuzu Trooper. One male was reaching through the shattered driver's-side air vent window.
When the three noticed the officer, they fled eastbound on foot. The officer called for backup and pursued them.
The suspects soon split up and the officer followed one to the Architecture building, where the suspect crawled into a nearby drainpipe. The pursuing officer secured one end of the pipe and another officer arrived to cover the other end. They then took the juvenile into custody.
One of the other juveniles was later stopped by Tucson Police and turned over to university police after he reportedly admitted participating in the crime.
Both youths were cited with burglary, criminal damage and related charges. Police found a baggie of marijuana and rolling papers in the pockets of the suspect who hid in the pipe and cited him with unlawful possession of marijuana and drug paraphernalia.
The two were transported to Pima County Juvenile Court Center.
The third suspect is still at large.
Five UA students were arrested on marijuana charges in two separate incidents over the weekend.
David S. Stanley, 20, Todd I. Wishnia, 18, and Jeffery S. Ballus, 18, all residents of Coronado Hall, 822 E. Fifth St., were arrested at 10:44 p.m. Sunday after a resident assistant called police when he smelled marijuana fumes emanating from a room.
Officers entered the room to find five people and a strong odor of marijuana, police reports stated. They later obtained a search warrant for the room and confiscated a scale, baggie of marijuana, and other drug paraphernalia.
The three were cited for unlawful possession/use of marijuana and released. The others in the room were not charged in the incident.
Police also arrested Kirk A. Wallace, 18, and Jason R. Harvey, 19, both residents of Coronado Hall, at the corner of East Fifth Street and North Tyndall Avenue early Friday morning after the two reportedly admitted to smoking marijuana.
At 2:36 a.m., passing officers noticed a marijuana odor in the area and found a small pipe on the ground in the middle of a small group of people standing on the corner.
Both Wallace and Harvey showed signs of marijuana use and were arrested for unlawful possession of marijuana and drug paraphernalia. The others in the group were not charged in the case.
A UA student was arrested on DUI charges at 5:07 p.m. Saturday at the intersection of North Park Avenue and East Speedway Boulevard.
Carlos Anderson, 21, of the 1000 block of North Cherry Avenue, was driving a Jeep with 10 passengers when officers stopped him for driving with obstructed views.
He subsequently failed field sobriety tests but only registered .084 and .083 on Intoxilyzer screenings. Urine samples were also taken.
He was cited for DUI and released.
A UA student was arrested for minor in possession of alcohol at 1:25 p.m. Saturday behind Pi Kappa Alpha fraternity, 1340 E. First St.
Officers cited Brian A. Halverson, 18, a resident of the fraternity house, and released him at the scene.
