The wind was the only winner.

The UA men's tennis team had its match with 20th-ranked UNLV canceled due to bad weather conditions on Friday at the Robson Tennis Center.

"It was like a hurricane outside, and it wasn't getting any better," Vuk Tapuskovic said.

There has been no effort to reschedule the match.

"These guys are ranked higher than us, so we didn't have anything to lose. It was disappointing because this was going to be our last home match against a ranked team that we could use our home-court advantage against," Tapuskovic said.

The 25th-ranked Wildcats' (10-6 overall, 2-5 in Pacific 10 Conference) last home match will be held April 17 against New Mexico State.

Henrik Wagner, UA's No. 2 singles player and half of the No. 1 doubles team, sprained his finger during his match against Arizona State on Wednesday. Wagner would have had to sit out against UNLV.

"Right now I can't hold a racket. It hurts pretty bad," Wagner said.

"With Henrik out it would have changed the lineup completely, so it didn't bother us to miss this match," Tom Haugland said.

The Wildcats travel to the Bay Area this weekend to play No. 2 Stanford on Friday in Palo Alto and No. 15 California on Saturday in Berkeley.

"Hopefully, I can be back by this weekend. It is big for us, and I don't want to let the team down," Wagner said.

The Wildcats were defeated 7-0 last time they faced Stanford, but UA upset the Bears 4-3 at Robson. UA's current ranking should improve when the April 16 ITA/Rolex rankings are released. The rankings are released every two weeks; the current 25th ranking has not accounted for their upset of Cal and their win over No. 38 Arizona State.
