Police officers who responded to a fire at Arizona-Sonora Residence Hall, 910 E. Fifth St., Tuesday evening found drug paraphernalia in a room after Tucson firefighters removed a smoking bag of popcorn from the microwave.

At 9:15 p.m., police confiscated a glass pipe and "bounty filters" from the room, but a local judge denied the officers' request for a search warrant.

The occupants of the room were not present at the time of the fire. A police investigation is continuing, pending follow-up with the room's occupants.

Two cases of telephone harassment were reported to university police Wednesday.

A resident of Graham-Greenlee Hall, 610 N. Highland Ave., reported receiving two calls on his answering machine between 10:30 and 11 p.m. A male caller reportedly called him a "fucking dick" and then insulted his girlfriend.

Police reports indicate another occupant of the room dialed *57 following each call and the UA Center for Computing and Information Technology successfully traced the originating number. The victim said he is willing to prosecute for harassment.

In a separate case, a female resident of Manzanita-Mohave Residence Hall, 1000 N. Park Ave., reported receiving two obscene phone calls around 11:15 p.m.

The unknown male caller, who identified himself as "Steve," said he was "jerking off." The victims then hung up.

The phone rang a second time and the victim's roommate picked up the receiver to hear "grumbling and groaning," police reports stated.

The two attempted to trace the calls but were unsuccessful.

A female student called police Monday evening to report she has been harassed by a man for the past month.

The student alleges that the man, a University of Arizona student, has been following her around campus since he met her a month ago at Dirtbag's, 1800 E. Speedway Blvd.

Police reports indicate the man has attempted to talk to the woman on numerous occasions, but she told him she did not want to speak with him.

The student also said the suspect has been calling her sorority house and once delivered cookies with an attached note stating he was sorry for disappointing her, police reports stated.

Officers advised the woman to tell the man to leave her alone or get a restraining order. Police officers attempted to call the suspect at his residence but he was not at home.

Three cases of theft were reported on campus earlier this week.

The wallet contained cash as well as identification and credit cards. While cancelling the cards, the student discovered a $200 charge on her Citibank Visa account.

The victim told officers she would find out the acquaintance's name and address and report it to police.
