Police suspect college student in robbery

Police are searching for this man in connection with a robbery Wednesday.

Police are looking for a man they believe may be a college student in connection with a robbery at Saguaro Credit Union Wednesday afternoon.

At 3 p.m., the man came into the bank at 801 E. Speedway Blvd. and handed a teller a note instructing her to put the money from her drawer into a backpack, said Detective Patty Thibaut of the Tucson Police Department. Police an undetermined amount was tak en in the robbery.

After the teller put the money in the pack, the man zipped it up and calmly walked out the door, Thibaut said. He then headed northeast through the parking lot and into a residential area behind the bank.

The man is described as a 20- to 25-year-old white male with short brown hair. He is between 5 feet 10 inches and 6 feet tall and weighs 160 to 180 pounds. The man was wearing a white T-shirt, dark pants and a dark-colored baseball cap. Thibaut said polic e believe the suspect may be a college student.
