A UA student was arrested for an outstanding felony warrant after police stopped him for riding a motorcycle without eye protection.

Brian A. French, 19, a resident of Arizona-Sonora Residence Hall, 910 E. Fifth St., was pulled over at 4:12 p.m. Thursday at the intersection of East University Boulevard and North Cherry Avenue.

Although he initially told officers he did not have his license with him, a name check yielded a fail-to-appear warrant for two counts of theft in Maricopa County.

After being arrested, officers searched his wallet and found his suspended Arizona driver's license and a false Mississippi driver's license.

French was cited for the felony warrant, providing false information to law enforcement, possession of a fictitious license, possession of a suspended license, and driving without registration or proof of insurance.

He was taken to Pima County Jail to await extradition to Phoenix.

University police officers referred six UA students to the Dean of Students' diversion program for minor in possession of alcohol, early Thursday morning, after responding to a noise complaint at Zeta Beta Tau fraternity, 1011 N. Tyndall Ave.

When officers arrived at 1:04 a.m., the occupants of the suspected room initially refused to open the door for the officers. When police were finally let in, they discovered the six offenders.

A records check of John Beret, 19, of the 1500 block of North Park Avenue, yielded a fail-to-appear warrant for failing to complete a previous diversion program.

Beret was arrested for the warrant and a charge of minor in possession of alcohol. He was transported to Pima County Jail.
