Stop complaining about Mall preachers

Editor:

I am tired of hearing complaints about the Mall preachers. I do not imagine it is easy to wake up each day and decide to preach to the campus. These Mall preachers have to deal with a mostly apathetic student body; the students who are not apathetic are usually hostile. The friendly faces and open hearts they come across are few and far between. Yet, these God-fearing men keep coming back. Could it be they believe their message is too important to let a little persecution stop them? (Besides, the hecklers need something to do with all their free time.) Some might say religion is being forced upon the students, but I think Hollywood is pushing its values upon the rest of the world. From celebrity marriages that do not last, to directors who are constantly trying to determine how much more skin can be shown on the big screen, the public is affected by it all. If you choose to study outside in the Mall, you can study using headphones. Or you can leave the headphones at home, study outside anyway, and open your mind and heart. Maybe, just maybe, you will receive a message that awakens your soul.
