University police arrested two students Saturday after they admitted stealing numerous items from Gamma Phi Beta sorority.

Brandon S. Shedd, 19, and Marck R. Zuehlsdorff, 20, both residents of Alpha Tau Omega fraternity, 1050 N. Cherry Ave., allegedly entered Gamma Phi Beta sorority, 1535 E. First St., at 4 a.m. They allegedly stole two composite photographs, two table lamps and a number of couch cushions before breaking a trophy case and discharging a fire extinguisher in the sorority house.

Responding officers talked to a Gamma Phi Beta member who said she had seen the missing couch cushions inside the ATO house.

Police reports indicate Shedd and Zuehlsdorff called police at 5:43 that morning and admitted to the crime.

Officers arrested Shedd and Zuehlsdorff on second-degree burglary charges and recovered the stolen property from their room. Both were transported to Pima County Jail.

Police reports indicated three other males also entered Gamma Phi Beta with Shedd and Zuehlsdorff but have not been cited in the incident.

Two residents of La Paz Residence Hall, 602 N. Highland Ave., were cited on assault charges Sunday after a fight between roommates turned violent.

Officers arrived to find Kimberly Pennington, 20, visibly upset in her room, reports stated. Pennington told the officers she had returned to the room between 7:15 and 7:30 a.m. and found the door locked. After she banged on the door, her roommate answere d, blocking the entry with her body.

Pennington reportedly shoved the door open, knocking her roommate backward. The 17-year-old roommate then started hitting Pennington, and a fight erupted.

The roommate later confirmed Pennington's story.

Officers noticed a bite mark on Pennington's left arm as well as multiple minor abrasions.

Both Pennington and her roommate were cited for assault. The hall director told police Pennington was moving out of the room soon.

Tuesday's Police Beat erroneously stated "The roommate later confirmed (Kimberly) Pennington's story," when all information in the report actually came from Pennington's interview about the assault case.

In addition, the story should have stated that the 17-year-old roommate filed assault charges before Pennington, and that the roommate also was injured in the incident. She later was taken to University Medical Center complaining of dizziness.

The Wildcat regrets the errors.

Undergraduate Sen. Charlie Hong, 23, was arrested on a charge of reckless driving Friday evening after officers waiting outside University Medical Center, 1501 N. Campbell Ave., saw his 1988 Porsche 944 speed by.

Police estimated the car's speed at 65 mph. The posted limit is 35 mph.

Hong, of the 1700 block of East First Street, then turned onto East Mabel Avenue and reportedly drove east at over 50 mph in a 25 mph zone until officers pulled him over.

After Hong admitted that he had been driving too fast, officers cited him for reckless driving and released him at the scene.

A female student came to university police headquarters Friday evening to report a male exposing himself in the Main Library, 1510 E. University Blvd.

At 5:45 p.m., the man reportedly approached the student on the third floor and proceeded to "make conversation with her."

Police reports indicate he then "reached below his waist, exposing and touching himself."

The student said she could identify the suspect if she saw him again and will make arrangements to have a composite sketch made of the man's face.

University police broadcast an attempt-to-locate bulletin for the suspect, but he was not found.
