Officers responded at 4:21 p.m. and notified Bee Masters, a private beekeeping firm, after locating the swarm.

While the officers waited, another swarm was located near the first one.

Two vehicles were reported stolen from campus-area lots last week.

An employee's 1989 Oldsmobile sedan was taken from Lot 2025 on the corner of North Cherry Avenue and East Speedway Boulevard between 11:30 a.m. and 5 p.m. Thursday.

Officers found the remnants of the driver-side window on the ground where the car was parked.

The victim said this was the fourth employee's car stolen from the lot in the past month.

In a separate incident, someone took a 1989 Chevrolet pickup from a parking lot at 1443 E. First St. between 4:30 and 5:15 p.m. Saturday.

A female student who was taking care of the truck was walking nearby when she saw someone drive it away, police reports stated.

Officers found shattered glass at the scene and later notified the registered owner.

A student was arrested on DUI charges Saturday after he reportedly turned right on a red light at North Mountain Avenue and East Speedway Boulevard, cutting off a university police squad car.

Officers stopped the 1986 Toyota pickup driven by Mark A. Sherman, 19, of the 900 block of North Euclid Avenue, at 1:06 a.m. near the intersection of North Cherry Avenue and Speedway Boulevard. Officers characterized Sherman as visibly intoxicated and arrested him on a charge of minor operating a vehicle with alcohol in the blood.

Subsequent Intoxilyzer tests showed Sherman had blood-alcohol concentration of .106 and .109. He was then charged with DUI with a BAC above .10.

Officers transported Sherman to the Alpha Tau Omega fraternity, 1050 N. Cherry Ave., where he was released.

Two students were arrested for liquor violations Friday after officers saw them carry beer to a car from Circle K, 977 E. Speedway Blvd.

Passing officers stopped Scott Silverman, 22, of the 3100 block of South Saddletree Drive, and Robert S. Singer, 20, of the 1000 block of North Tyndall Avenue, at 9:43 p.m. because they appeared to be underage, police reports stated.

After a search, police located a fraudulent California driver license in Singer's wallet. The store's clerk said both men had provided identification when buying the liquor.

Singer was cited on charges of minor possessing alcohol and misrepresentation of age to obtain liquor. Silverman was charged with furnishing liquor to a minor and both were later released.

The beer was disposed of at university police headquarters.

A student called police Friday to report the theft of three of her oil paintings from a room in the art building, 1031 N. Olive Ave.

Between 4 p.m. Thursday and 1 p.m. Friday, someone took the paintings which the student values at $800.
