After announcing the results of its mail-in election April 10, the Graduate and Professional Student Council still has 12 open seats.

Graduate students wishing to serve as representatives on the council need to submit to the GPSC petitions with 20 signatures from constituents in their area of education.

There are two vacant seats each in the College of Education, humanities, health-related professions, biological sciences and social and behavioral sciences and one each in the colleges of engineering and mines, nursing, fine arts and optical sciences.

Jed Brown, GPSC elections officer, said what traditionally happens with unfilled seats is that the current representative continues into the new term or until a new representative is found. He said a special election will be held only if the number of people who turn in petitions is greater than those vacancies.
