A UA student was arrested on multiple alcohol charges early Tuesday morning after he drove by an officer at high speed and skidded to a stop in the middle of the intersection of East Second Street and North Park Avenue, police reports stated.

The vehicle, driven by Mark S. Ebmeyer, 19, a resident of Coronado Hall, 822 E. Fifth St., turned south onto Park Avenue when the officer lost sight of it. The officer then radioed the vehicle's description to other patrol officers.

Another officer stopped the vehicle at Second Street and North First Avenue and noted a strong odor of alcohol coming from Ebmeyer and a bottle of Bacardi on the floor of the vehicle near the front passenger's seat, police reports stated.

After completing one field sobriety test, Ebmeyer reportedly said, "Just read me my fucking rights." Police then took him into custody.

Intoxilyzer tests at UA police headquarters indicated Ebmeyer had a blood-alcohol concentration of .189. While at the station, Ebmeyer began breathing erratically so police called paramedics, police reports stated.

After the medics approved his condition Ebmeyer was transported to Pima County Jail and booked on charges of driving under the influence, DUI with a BAC over .10, minor operating a motor vehicle with alcohol in the blood, failure to stop for a stop sign, minor in possession of alcohol, no proof of insurance and no registration in possession.

The passenger in the vehicle, UA student Kelly R. Eustice, 18, of the 1400 block of East First Street, was cited for minor in consumption of alcohol after officers noticed the smell of liquor on her breath. She was released to a friend.

University police arrested a Marshall Foundation maintenance worker and three 17-year-old females after responding to the Arid Lands building, 845 N. Park Ave., in reference to a possible burglary in progress.

Upon entering the building at 2:50 a.m. Wednesday, officers found three underage females sitting in a room smoking cigarettes. Police reports indicate two of the three were visibly intoxicated. When interviewed by police, the two girls initially gave officers incorrect personal information, but later altered their stories. The sober juvenile told police "Gary," a janitor at the complex, had left them there to sober up.

Gary S. Douglas, 30, of the 2200 block of South Holly Stravenue, entered the room after police paged him. He told officers he knew the girls and had found them wandering the area while intoxicated. Reports indicate he put them in the room to prevent their arrest and had planned to return after completing his janitorial duties.

Douglas was charged with contributing to the delinquency of minors and released at the scene.

The sober juvenile was cited for minor in possession of tobacco and released to her mother.

Police could not reach the others' parents, so they were booked into Pima County Juvenile Correction Center on charges of minors in possession of alcohol and providing false information to law enforcement.

A UA employee called police after he found a staple jammed in his office door lock in the Drama building, 1025 N. Olive Ave.

The employee reportedly saw Mark J. Witt, 21, of the 800 block of East Ninth Street, crouching by the door at 11:15 a.m. Wednesday and told him to stay where he was. Witt, a former subordinate of the employee, was fired over spring break for not doing his job, police reports stated.

Witt denied involvement and said he was walking down the hall when the employee yelled for him to stop. Officers characterized Witt as nervous, reports stated.

Witt was cited on charges of criminal damage and released from university police headquarters.
